Effective immediately…

A circular issued by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT – Abu Dhabi) addressed to “General Managers of Hotels and Tourism Establishments, Event Organizers and Owners of Venues, Museums, Cultural and Entertainment Venues” confirms Tourists are entering Abu Dhabi. Temporarily docked cruise ships will no longer need to show green passes to Dubai

To gain access to these locations, they will simply need to show cruise cards or wristbands.

Changes in Green Pass

Updates to the UAE’s policy on wearing masks indoors were the biggest headlines in NCEMA’s recent announcement on the pandemic safety policy, but the Al Hous Green Pass was also given some big concessions – most Importantly, fully vaccinated individuals may receive more than 30 doses of the vaccine. The Day Green Pass follows a negative PCR, while those who are partially or unvaccinated can now get a pass for seven days.

Cruises were one of the first forms of tourism to be restricted from Abu Dhabi during the pandemic. He was one of the first to reintroduce channels of mass transit tourism, with strict policies to ensure public safety. Based on this, it is possible to see the cruise industry in Abu Dhabi as indicative of an overall policy shift, or at least a good test of which way the current management winds are blowing.

Could we soon see the end of the Green Pass system for the rest of us?

Only time will tell. With the number of incidents occurring in the fourth quarter of 2022 and the first quarter of 2023, the recent easing of restrictions, and the continued commitment to bring tourists back to Abu Dhabi, the pace of policy change is certain to be a comprehensive rollback. Working side by side. All measures. One thing we can be sure of, is that changes will only be made when it is absolutely safe to do so.
