Ahmedabad. The new ‘Vande Bharat Express’ semi-fast train covered the 492 km distance between Ahmedabad and Mumbai in five and a half hours on Friday. On the first day, 313 passengers were on board the train. Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the train from Gandhinagar at around 10.30 am. The train left Platform 9 of Ahmedabad Railway Station at 2 PM and reached Mumbai Central Railway Station at 7.30 PM.
Samit Thakur, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, said that the train was carrying 313 passengers, of which 47 were in the executive chair car category while the rest were in the chair car coach. He was accompanied by railway officials and media personnel. The booking of the new train was started a day earlier. Passengers were excited to be a part of the train’s maiden journey and were taking photos and videos with their mobiles during the journey.
Apart from this, the train also attracted various railway stations along the route, railway officials, people walking on the road near the tracks and people living in the buildings who were seen taking pictures and videos of the train passing by. . Jaideep Nimawat, a real estate businessman traveling with his family from Surat to Ahmedabad, said- ‘This train is amazing compared to other trains. The seats are luxurious and comfortable’ said Siddharth Kanariwala – ‘I booked the ticket as soon as my boss approved the leave this morning. I wanted to experience train travel.
KK Thakur, co-loco pilot and co-driver of the Gandhinagar to Ahmedabad train, said it was a great honor for him and his colleague to get the chance to drive the train for the first time. He said that he was given special training earlier because the dashboard of the train is different from the dashboard installed in a normal train.
