Raju Shetty: Raju Shetti, head of Swabhimani Shetkar Sangathan, expressed the view that till the Minimum Guaranteed Price Act (MPS) is implemented in the country, the farmers of the country will be in economic crisis. Making the country self-reliant in the matter of food production, farmers are facing the need of land. 80 percent of the country’s farmers are smallholders. Hence Shetty put forward the position that the Minimum Guarantee Act should be implemented. Raju Shetty was speaking at the MSP Guaranty Kisan Morcha conference held in Punjab’s Khor, Delhi.

On behalf of the Akhil Bharatiya Kisan Sangharsh Sangharsh Samiti, more than 200 farmer organizations of the country had gathered in Khor village, Punjab, Delhi. MSP Guarantee Convention has been organized in Punjab Khor. On this occasion, Raju Shetty fiercely targeted the central government. The village councils of 460 gram panchayats of Maharashtra have unanimously passed a resolution that the country’s Parliament pass the Guarantee Act and the President directs them to do so. Raju Shetty also informed that the proposal will be submitted to the President soon. In the 75 years since independence, Parliament has passed many laws at the behest of officials and ministers. However, Raju Shetty said on the occasion that for the first time in history since 2017, farmers are fighting on the street for the Minimum Guaranteed Price Act.

Raju Shetty has alleged that the central government is looting the farmers by implementing anti-farmer policies. To stop this loot, farmers across the country have organized. Raju Shetty said that the fight which started earlier at Parliament Street and Jantar Mantar has now directly joined the fight to farmers and farmers from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Gujarat to Assam.

An attempt by the central government to defame the farmers’ movement in the country

Meanwhile this time V.M. Singh also targeted the central government. Singh alleged that while the farmers are fighting on the streets for their right to justice, the central government is dividing them by defaming the farmers’ movement in the country. Singh has also warned that all political parties should pay heed to this demand, otherwise the farmers will not sit in peace. This convention will be held in Delhi. MaharashtraRepresentatives of farmers’ organizations from Karnataka, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Punjab, Assam, Meghalaya, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Telangana, Gujarat and Rajasthan were present.
