New Delhi. Thiruvadurai Adhinam has refuted claims that Sengol is not a symbol of transfer of power. He has officially denied that Lord Mountbatten was given Cengol during the transfer of power in 1947. Which was then handed over to the first Prime Minister of the country, Jawaharlal Nehru. He said that we are going to Delhi tomorrow and will now hand it over to PM Modi. Let me tell you that Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said that there is no evidence that Sengol was a symbol of power transfer. Thiruvadurai Adhanam said that he was surprised by such statements of the political party.
“Many sources, including our available records, prove that we were invited to perform a ritual symbolic of the transfer of power,” Thiruvadore said. Our subordinate honored Rajaji’s invitation and we made a singul, gave it to Lord Mountbatten, took it back from him and presented it to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in a grand ceremony. The Swami who presented it to Nehru also made it clear that it was a symbol of Sengol’s independence.
Adhanam also made it clear that calling such events fake or false, questioning our credibility and trying to downplay the importance of using Sengol as a symbol of power transfer for politics is very sad and wrong. It is unfortunate.
