The minimum wage for unskilled workers in Punjab has been increased to Rs 9,907 from the existing Rs 9,192.
Also, the salary of skilled workers has been increased from Rs 10,869 to Rs 11,584.
CM Bhagwant Mann also launched ‘Punjab Kirti Madhak’ mobile app for workers.

Chandigarh Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday approved the proposal to increase the minimum wage of construction workers by Rs 715 per month. According to an official release, the chief minister took the decision while presiding over a review meeting of the Punjab Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board here.

Bhagwant Mann said that the minimum wage for unskilled workers has been increased to Rs 9,907 from the existing Rs 9,192. Along with this, the minimum wage for semi-skilled workers has been increased from Rs 9,972 to Rs 10,687. He said that similarly, the salary of skilled workers has been increased from Rs 10,869 to Rs 11,584 and the salary of highly skilled workers has been increased from Rs 11,901 to Rs 12,616.

The Chief Minister said that his government is committed to the welfare of every section of the society. In another decision, Mann also approved a proposal to launch a large-scale campaign for registration of workers with the board. He said that currently 5.30 lakh workers are registered in the board and they need to be increased to at least 1.5 lakh. Bhagwant Mann asked the board to intensify the campaign by sending teams to villages, towns, labor squares and construction sites.

The Chief Minister also launched the ‘Punjab Keerti Aashat’ mobile app to facilitate the laborers and construction workers to get all the details easily. This app is bilingual and is in English and Punjabi. He said that construction workers can now register themselves with the board from anywhere and at any time.
