Jaipur. In Rajasthan, Bovine Lumpy Skin Disease samples can now be tested only in Rajasthan. State’s first RTPCR machine to test skin lump disease samples in Rajasthan has arrived in Jaipur. This RTPCR machine is installed in the laboratory of the State Animal Prevention Center at Jaipur. With the arrival of the state’s first RTPCR machine, you no longer have to travel to other states outside Rajasthan to get your sample tested. Due to the outbreak of Lumpy virus infection in 18 states of the country, it used to take a fortnight to a month for the sample to be reported. But now in Rajasthan the sample report will be ready in just two to three days.
According to veterinary experts, this new RTPCR machine can detect all kinds of viral diseases as well as lumpy skin diseases. In the past, samples were sent to other states’ disease diagnostic centers or central disease diagnostic laboratories for tests required to diagnose many animal diseases. Because of this, investigations took longer and there was pressure to send only a limited number of samples. On many occasions, the sample was suspected to have been damaged en route. Due to this, the spread of the disease in the animals of the state could not be detected in time and obstacles were created in its control.
This is how a modern RTPCR machine works.
Dr. Lennon Bhatt, Senior Veterinarian, Rajasthan State Animal Disease Diagnostic Centre, Jaipur, said that samples of infected cattle are first collected from the field. This sample can also be taken from skin, blood, serum as per the guidelines of Animal Department. The sample is sent to the lab through a cold chain like a sample of the Covid-19 virus. A state-of-the-art RTPCR machine performs technical tasks based on a fluorescein-based detection system. The collected sample is brought to the RTPCR machine after detection of ad quality in the master system in the lab. There, the virus is identified by the DNA of the sample from the machine.
This is how viruses are identified in DNA.
According to Dr. Lenin Bhatt, PCR technology is the latest technology for disease diagnosis. The disease is diagnosed by culturing microscopic amounts of DNA and RNA. In this technique, the conditions and materials necessary to make duplicate copies of DNA are artificially supplied by the PCI machine. This leads to the enrichment of microscopic amounts of DNA up to millions of times. The process of DNA replication takes place in three steps. 1. Denaturation 2. Annealing of primers 3. Extension. These three steps are repeated many times in the PCR machine. This doubles the amount of DNA each time. Finally, according to the CT value, the sample is determined as positive or negative.
