The actress is now looking forward to the release of two big films ‘Doctor Ji’ and ‘Thank God’ this month. ‘Doctor Ji’ is a medical comedy-drama, in which she will be seen alongside Ayushmann Khurrana.
In the film, Ayushmann Khurrana plays the role of Dr. Gupta, the only male student in his college’s gynecology department who faces difficulties while interacting with his patients. Along with comedy, the film touches on topics that people generally don’t like to talk about.
Rakul Preet Singh, in an exclusive chat with News18, spoke about her role in the film as well as her apprehensions about meeting a male ophthalmologist. She says about her role, ‘I am playing the role of gynecologist Dr. Fatima. She is very settled in her mind, knows what she is doing. When you watch the film, you will know that she helps Ayushmann’s character understand his love for his profession. This will make college students feel connected.
Many things are discussed in the film. For example, women are afraid to talk to a male doctor. When asked about any such experience, Rakul says, ‘Even when I was a teenager, I was shy. There was a time when I had to go to a male gynecologist and I was very embarrassed. I thought how can I let this person investigate me?’

She adds, ‘I was 13-14 years old and I was shy, but now that I’m older I realize that you don’t see it that way and that’s the conversation in the trailer as well. We talk about mail touch and doctor’s touch. If you look at the statistics, some of the top gynecologists in the country are men.

She concludes, ‘The film tries to say that a doctor is a doctor and should be seen as such. There is a need to break the taboos around you. Unfortunately, we don’t talk about it much, but it’s a part of your body, like the heart or brain.
