New Delhi. Ministry of AYUSH is continuously working to promote traditional medicine and system of medicine in India. Not only this, the All India Institute of Ayurveda i.e. AIIA, which comes under the Ministry of Ayush, will now collaborate with Japan to promote research in the field of Ayurveda.

Recently AIIA has entered into an agreement with National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Japan for academic stay. Under which AIST Japan will provide international support for research in Ayurveda here. The Japan-based institute is a prestigious and one of the largest public research organizations focusing on technologies and bridging the gap between innovative technological seeds and commercialization.

It is noteworthy that on this MoU AIIA Director Prof. Tanuja Nisari and Dr. Tamura Tomohiro, Director General, Department of Biology and Biotechnology. Prime Senior Researcher Renu Wadhwa, Head, Department of Biology and Biotechnology, AIST-India DAILAB also participated whose efforts have been instrumental in making this collaboration a reality.

With the signing of this MoU, AIIA aims to promote its institute’s research activities nationally and internationally. The MoU will enable both countries to develop research cooperation and manufacturing capacity in the field of Indian Ayurvedic system of traditional medicines. All these activities will be completed with the support of the Ministry of AYUSH.

The scope of activities targeted by the participants includes research activities in the field of Ayurveda. These include studies in design and implementation with the goal of developing evidence-based guidelines for integrating Ayurvedic principles and practices with traditional medicine. Develop safety standards and protocols for the use of Ayurveda in Japan according to clinical guidelines. Exchange of scientists, researchers and staff as determined by the contributors on a project-to-project basis. To achieve excellence in Ayurveda by acquiring scientific developments, tools and techniques, students participate in collaborative activities etc.

AIIA has previously organized the European Academy of Ayurveda, Germany, Bernstein, Western Sydney University, Australia, Graz Medical University, Austria. There are MoUs with College of Medicine, UK, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, UK and Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
