Former Delhi Minister called for questioning
Delhi Police said – will appear on Tuesday.
Presence in exchange program
New Delhi. Delhi Police will question former minister Rajendra Pal Gautam on Tuesday about his presence in the conversion programme. Hindu gods were allegedly condemned in the programme. A notice has been issued to Gautham along with some others to appear for questioning, a senior police official said. He said that the former minister will be questioned about his presence at the event and details of what actually happened will be sought from him.
Gautam had resigned as a minister in the Delhi government on Sunday following a controversy over his presence at a conversion function. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has used the issue during the election campaign in Gujarat, accusing AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal of being ‘anti-Hindu’. A video of Rajendra Pal Gautam has gone viral on social media in which Rajendra Pal Gautam is taking oath with around 10 thousand people. In the oath, an oath is being taken not to believe in Hindu gods and goddesses. However, after this video came out, there has been a strong reaction from BJP.
Rajendra Pal Gautam explained on his video.
However, Rajendra Pal Gautam explained on his video that Kalinga was conquered by Emperor Ashoka. After that day he saw that blood was blood all around, after that he gave up his weapons and studied Buddhism. On the same day, Babasaheb also took a vow on Ashok Vijay Dashmi after facing caste and untouchability all his life. Since then, a Buddhist initiation program has been held every year, with 22 vows taken. He said that we have taken 22 oaths, in which we will not drink alcohol, will not commit adultery, will not do drugs, will not do violence and will consider humanity as the greatest religion.
